Origym NYC
Design For Less
People want to buy a solution to working out without putting in the work. We want to make them want to buy the solution less or put in the work more. Our proposed solution is a gym plan intended to combat this tendency, providing four types of specialized gyms. Customers pay for a month of gym membership at the end of the month, with the price being an inverse function of their gym usage. We aim to make people more conscious of their gym usage by reframing it as a financial responsibility in addition to a physical one.

Our Inspiration and Stakeholders
-
Territory: Wasting money on exercising instead of putting in the work
-
Opportunity: People with gym memberships (including those who do not go), more specifically people who waste money on gym memberships
-

Supporting Secondary Research
-
40 to 45% of college students engage in fitness activities regularly (≥3 days/week). compared to those exercising at least once per week
-
14% of Americans have a gym membership
-
Around 80% of Americans who have a gym membership do not use the gym (the number of gym memberships outnumbers the people who use them)
-
Salary influences gym habits, or the higher the salary, the longer you spend exercising (people who do not have as many small responsibilities to worry about)
-
81 to 85% of adults continue the same physical activity patterns that they establish during their senior year of college
